Geek Round Up is a new Filmdogs column celebrating the best geeky filmic news. Basically anything that incites us geeks to push our glasses up the bridge of our nose, and lean closer to our computer screens with excitement. So, let’s do just that.

I came across this article at Deadline Hollywood linking posting a hilarious rant from comedian Andre’ Meadows of Black Nerd Comedy. The title: Lost and Heroes Hate Black People. Check out the video below, it’s funny stuff.

Oddly enough I was just discussing this very subject with fellow Filmdogs writer and “Lost” super fan Mr. Jason the other day. I’ve always disliked the way “Lost” handled the departure of it’s major American American character Michael from the show, and even actor Harold Perrineau has echoed his displeasure back in season four.

From Entertainment Weekly:

I was disappointed more than anything… Like I think the fans were disappointed.

He later cleared up a statement in which he said Walt “winds up being another fatherless child, it plays into a really big, weird stereotype.” Saying:

My feelings about the social implications are my feelings. My feelings don’t determine what the storyline is…Michael’s a black character and I’m a black person, so I have feelings based on it. I can’t really separate those two things….I should especially think before I say anything racial, because I recognize that when you make a racial comment it polarizes people. That was never the intention.

Interesting to say the least. Producers have stated again in EW that Michael will be back in this final season “during the climactic sweep of story.” Hopefully, this will bring the closure to Michael and Walt’s storyline that fans like myself have been clamoring for.
