A “Rome” movie? Nice, but where’s the “Deadwood” love?

According to the people at Entertainment Weekly the awesome HBO original series “Rome” is headed to the big screen as a sequel. That’s right, a sequel.

Rome creator Bruno Heller has finished the script for the sequel which will be set in Germany four years after the show ended. Both lead actors Ray Stevenson (Titus Pullo) and Kevin McKidd (Lucius Vorenus) will be back. Apperently, Vorenus survived the show after all. While not much happened historically after the end of “Rome’s” run I’m sure it will be filled all the rated R fun one would expect. The HBO original series lasted two seasons and was extremely entertaining even thought it lacked the thought of show like “Deadwood” or “The Sopranos”

Speaking of “Deadwood” does this mean HBO will finally get it’s sh@# together and make the movie to end the series like David Milch talked about? One can only hope.

A Deadwood movie in theory would be amazing. But the premise for the entire show is made for episodic television, I couldn’t see it being an two-hour film with a decent enough arc or even closure for the series.
Yeah, I’m mainly just thinking of something like those 2 2 hour tv movies Milich was going to do before they decided to tear down the sets. Apparently they were going to end the show with the fire that destroyed the town.
I miss thee, Deadwood…co**suckers.

The HBO c*sucker suits duped the DW fans. JC from Cincinnati was a bomb and Milch went on to a much needed hiatus. Meanwhile the cast and crew never got new contracts for any phriggin’ two hour phlick and went on to other projects. I imagine it would be very hard to get all the major players back. And DW wouldn’t be DW without them. I wouldn’t want to see any substitutes.
Still, we have the 3 boxed sets of SI, S2 and S3. Jeweled gifts from Milch, et. al.

YEP!!!!!! It is now 2010 and I am “STILL” waiting on the movies HBO promised us to cap-off the Deadwood series!!! To this day, I miss DW like no other C***-Sucker in the world!!!!!

I heard they were going to do 2 hour tv movies but HBO decided the production would be two expensive. Added to this was the fact that Milch’s surfing show was cancelled and he wasn’t happy.
Best show made fot T.V….to be treated that way was a disgrace. As for th so-called movies looks like they will never happen, but we DW fans can only hope.

i loved rome and deadwood and didnt know there was supposed to be a movie of deadwood but it’d be good. and rome, although how they could set it in germany and still call it rome i dont know. lol. kinda makes no sense

I have not bought or paid for HBO since they pulled this stunt, and if others would do the same….maybe the cocksuc*** who make these decisions would realizing pissing off their viewers like that, shows their inability to play a series properly or finish a story line is why we aren’t, not a buying their crappy station anymore!! I won’t watch any series now…only to be left hanging gluten for punishmen. They’d lose advertising bucks during viewers who would stand up and cancel their subscriptions. I’m only one person, but if all Deadwoods fans did that, that would be a mighty LOSS!! And maybe a wakeup call to this idiots…
Deadwood fans deserve some closure for a show that was by far the greatest I have ever seen. I never like seeing a show end but actually having it end with dignity is far better than the cancellation of Deadwood to the disgust of the fans worldwide. Do the right thing HBO (for a change).
I am watching the Deadwood series on DVD, but I also know that it ends more or less in the middle of it, and that pis**s me off because I watched it when it was running years ago. I have not had HBO since, and now find that STARZZ does a much better job of making series programs.
Where the hell is Deadwood?, Possibly the best western ever made and HBO is pulling up stakes and no sequal? If Deadwood was started on any cable outlet it would still be a No. 1 rated show due to the fact that viewers see the relationship between the people and events in the town of Deadwood and what we see every day on the sewer we call cable news.
By all means, please bring it back!
I think Deadwood is the number one HBO series, I hope they will not make a 2 hour movie but just continue with the series. Those guy’s did a hell of a job with this serie.
