2oth Century Fox has just announced the date in which the extended version of Avatar will hit theaters and IMAX once again. For a fan of the film who hasn’t seen the picture since December this is extremely exciting. My policy has been that a film like Avatar is meant to be experienced on the biggest screen possible. So, until my home theater catches up to the tech in cinemas I’ll be waiting for events like this one:
On August 27, return to Pandora and re-experience James Cameron’s History-Making Epic film, with more than Eight Minutes of Never Before Seen Footage- exclusively in Digital 3D and IMAX® 3D. Since – and largely as of result of – AVATAR’s release last December, the number of available digital 3D screens has exploded, and moviegoers who missed experiencing the film in 3D, as well as fans that want to return to Pandora again, will now have that opportunity.
The Oscar® and Golden Globe® winning epic is the highest grossing film of all time, taking in over $2.7 billion in worldwide box office. It is also the top-selling Blu-ray disc of all time.
Geeks worldwide are gooing over the possibility of seeing the infamous “sex scene” for the first time.

I know I’ll probably go see it again and ever since I showed it to my brother on the small screen, he’s been asking and asking when it’s gonna come back to theaters after I told him it might. This morning I texted him the date and he was like ‘FUCK YEAH!!!!’
So, I think it’s gonna make some money second time around too…but all those people who missed out on the landmark experience might be able to get a second chance. Plus, the rest of us can see the extra stuff.
