Aliens

I’ve stated before on the Filmdogs podast that I really enjoy the score to the film Aliens…and it is quite possibly my favorite action, sci-fi and horror soundtrack. Proceed.

Those of you that don’t know, the production of the score for Aliens was riddled with problems. The final cut of the film hadn’t even been locked in and James Horner had to write several tracks in a very short time frame. Some of his tracks were also cut and edited to fit the film as well.

I own the soundtrack in it’s entirety and I wouldn’t disagree with Cameron’s choice to cut the tracks the way he did to fit the film. Nothing against Horner, but some of the tracks just wouldn’t fit well to the context of certain scenes in the film.

However! One track, and I’m pretty sure it’s my favorite track in the film, is held in its entirety in the film. Please enjoy “Going After Newt” courtesy of Youtube below.
