What?!!! George Lucas planning new Star Wars Sequel Trliogy, without the Skywalkers?
UPDATE: Well, that was quick. According to the good folks at Wired.com Lucasfilm denied the rumors of a new trilogy saying, “This is, of course, completely false.” Spokesperson Josh Kushins also added, “George Lucas has plenty of projects to keep him busy right now…including plenty of Star Wars projects…but there are no new Star Wars feature films planned.” Oh well, it was a fun rumor while it lasted. Of course, Lucasfilm could be lying and only time will tell. Until then I guess I’ll just rewatch the prequels if I need a fix…
Chalk this up as a huge rumor, but the word from site IESB.net is that George Lucas has plans for a sequel trilogy that could take place nearly 1,000 years after the original three. These new films would feature completely new characters, and the Skywalkers would not be present. The 1st film in the new saga would be after the released 24 months after the Return of the Jedi 3D debuts in cinemas, reminding of the release pattern of the prequels after the Special Editions hit theaters in 1997.

2. a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, esp. one who is perceived to be overly intellectual.
3. A carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts, as biting off the head of a live chicken.
Well, the time has finally come. Director Peter Jackson and Warner Bros/MGM have reached a deal for the highly anticipated pair of Hobbit films to start filming in February. I personally thought this would never happen after all the financial problems with MGM, and messes with Guillermo Del Toro and labor issues. The true triumph here is that Peter Jackson is returning to direct both Hobbit movies, the first to be released in December 2012 and the second in December 2013. It hardly seems like ten years since Lord of the Rings does it?
While some of the labor problems still need to be ironed out, it looks like things are moving full steam ahead for the pictures. Consider geeks everywhere to be extremely excited.

From THR comes a minute of footage from the upcoming Back to the Future Blu-Ray that features the original Marty McFly, actor Eric Stoltz in action. In the behind the scenes clip director Robert Zemeckis, producer Bob Gale, and Steven Speilberg discuss how they shot five weeks with Stoltz before realizing he didn’t quite fit the tone of the film. I can’t imagine how hard having to make that decision must have been for everyone involved, especially Stoltz. My heart goes out him after seeing this. Read the rest of this entry »

Coming from MTV is a totally bodacious interview with Keanu Reeves in which he talks about the possibility of a 3rd Bill and Ted adventure. What strikes me about video is how genuinely enthusiastic he is about the project even joking about having several high profile directors helm segments of the film. His version of Werner Herzog‘s take on the material is pretty amazing. Watch below. Read the rest of this entry »

When it comes to amusing movie related internet videos Star Wars is always going to be ahead of the pack. There’s just a surplus of nerds like myself who love creating content to fill now filmless void of in fans hearts. Take animator Daniel Smith of Orlando’s Dave School. His recent short The Solo Adventures, a prequel concerning Han and Chewie’s infamous cargo dump that got them in trouble with Jabba the Hutt, is sure to make fans smile.

Red Letter Media‘s angry, sexually offensive, and Sci-fi obsessed character Mr. Plinkett is back with another epic film review for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek. Unlike his extremely negative and now famous reviews of the first two Star Wars prequel’s it’s mainly positive. His enjoyment of the movie doesn’t make the review any less entertaining though.

Mad Men is the best show on television. Maybe even the best of all time, and the character of enigmatic ad-man Donald Draper as played by actor Jon Hamm is classic. Draper is an embodiment of a certain type of American ideal, so who better to play the part of America’s first and most iconic superhero.
