Game On | Review of “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World”

With Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Edgar Wright has now been crowned the undisputed King of the action/comedy. The film is an innovative and kinetic visual feast on the level with such films as Speed Racer and Kill Bill Vol 1. Not only that, it also tells a funny and impactful story of 20 something romance.

I haven’t read the comics upon which the film was based, and I have to admit to not really understanding what the movie was trying to achieve in it’s onslaught of advertising. Oscar Winners

Overall, this years awards went down as expected and were kind of bland. The Hurt Locker had a big night sweeping all the major awards including Best Picture. For me though the best part of the entire show was the cutting of the Best Original Song performances from the telecast. Here’s hoping that change is here to stay. See all the winners below in bold.

Layovers and Layoffs : Oscar Review of “Up In the Air”

It manages to accomplish what every great film should strive to do; make you look at the characters and their situations, and then look back at yourself. “Up In the Air” is about the modern man. Home is the road. Scratch that. Home is the sky, and as we all know the sky is the limit. Until, you are grounded. Read the rest of this entry »
