Although he should let the film speak for itself, director Joe Johnston has been stating in interviews that he is excited for audiences to see what he has in store for the character. If this poster is a glimpse at the overall look and tone of the film, I am excited as well. Continue on for a look at the angst-ridden captain. Read the rest of this entry »

When the dust settles the winner of best 2010 action team-up film is…
Hollywood loves to shell out similar films in a given year, (Dante’s Peak and Volcano, Deep Impact and Armageddon) and 2010 is no exception. This year the old school action team-up made a comeback with movies like, The Losers, The A-Team, and The Expendables with varying results. So, I thought it would be in fitting with the spirit of those films to pit them against one another, and see which one comes out on top. Here are the 2010 action team-up awards. Steroids are encouraged.

Game On | Review of “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World”
With Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Edgar Wright has now been crowned the undisputed King of the action/comedy. The film is an innovative and kinetic visual feast on the level with such films as Speed Racer and Kill Bill Vol 1. Not only that, it also tells a funny and impactful story of 20 something romance.
I haven’t read the comics upon which the film was based, and I have to admit to not really understanding what the movie was trying to achieve in it’s onslaught of advertising. So the action transpires like a video game? What’s the reason? So there’s heavy dose of sight gags, yet the film doesn’t quite fit the tone of a straight up comedy. One particularly bad TV spot stated something like, “in a musical, characters break into song when they feel the need. In Scott Pilgrim’s world they break into fights.” Even that simple explanation doesn’t even begin to grasp the concept, but all I can say is that the movie will make complete sense to anyone who’s owned an NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). First Pic of Chris Evans as Captain America
The first picture of Chris Evans as Marvel’s idealic American hero, Captain America has arrived. It’s an image from last Saturday’s panel at Comic Con sent in to Joblo by one of their readers. Apparently the image is from a costume test and not the actual film, but it’s still a good starting point for fans to wrap their heads around. Read the rest of this entry »
