Trailer Exam | Battle: Los Angeles

Apart from starring Aaron Eckhart and being touted as a Black Hawk Down style alien invasion movie, I knew next to nothing about the film Battle: Los Angeles. I heard good things from sources who caught clips at the past Comic-Con, but having seen nothing for myself I was still unsure. Well, the trailer for the film has recently hit the net and I found it to be more than a little fantastic. No dialogue or character moments are shown, but the trailer ramps up it’s visceral action scenes using Johann Johannsson’s “The Sun’s Gone Dim and the Sky’s Turned Black” and it takes hold of you. Director Jonathan Liebesman seems to be striving for a film that realistically depicts what such an a event would look like. I personally am very excited. Battle: Los Angeles stars Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan, Michael Peña and opens on March 11, 2011. Check out the trailer below.

The 1st teaser for “The Avengers” is here.

"The Avengers" assembling for the first time.

The logo only teaser trailer for Marvel’s biggest film The Avengers is now online. It’s basically enough to get you a little pumped for the flick as it’s a true tease. (The movie isn’t released until  summer 2012)  The film is directed by Joss Whedon and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and Clark Gregg as Agent Colson. Check it out below.

Sample Daft Punk’s Tron Legacy Soundtrack

Six tracks from Daft Punk‘s Tron Legacy score have made their way online, and continue the dark trend from earlier trailers. The music seems to fit nicely with the stark visual tone of the film, maybe even taking some influence from Vangelis’ Blade Runner score. Listen in below.

5 min Thor Comic Con Trailer is here!

The extended trailer for Marvel’s Thor that was shown at Comic Con is now online, and is an interesting bled of super cheesy drama and fairly badass action. Whether or not the film will turn out to be fun or a complete mess is still up in the air, but it looks like director Kenneth Branagh is the right choice for the material after all. Check out the trailer below or on our YouTube channel.

Thor is released May 11th 2011.

First Pic of Chris Evans as Captain America

What do you think?

The first picture of Chris Evans as Marvel’s idealic American hero, Captain America has arrived. It’s an image from last Saturday’s panel at Comic Con sent in to Joblo by one of their readers. Apparently the image is from a costume test and not the actual film, but it’s still a good starting point for fans to wrap their heads around. Read the rest of this entry »

Geek Round Up | Comic Con trailers and more

Emily Browning as "Baby Doll" in "Sucker Punch"

geek
Slang.
1. A person with a devotion to something in a way that places him or her outside the mainstream. This could be due to the intensity, depth, or subject of their interest.

2. a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, esp. one who is perceived to be overly intellectual.

3. A carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts, as biting off the head of a live chicken.

Zack Synder is the king of Comic Con debuting footage from his past works like 300, and Watchmen to great success there. While I have mixed feelings about both of those movies I can’t help but still be excited about his visual style. Which this trailer for his upcoming “female 300″ Sucker Punch has in spades. Here’s the plot description:

Sucker Punch is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, but her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary…with potentially tragic consequences.
