Trailer Exam | The Green Lantern
Not the biggest fan of this pose.
In the past few years I’ve become a fairly massive fan of the DC Comics character The Green Lantern thanks to the work of writer/DC Executive officer Geoff Johns. So naturally Martin Campbell’s upcoming film adaptation of the hero is something I’ve been looking forward to for several years now. I haven’t agreed with all the casting choices mainly Ryan Reynolds in the lead role of Hal Jordon, but I’ve since warmed to this decision. Last Friday when Entertainment Tonight debuted several seconds of the film’s trailer feelings were mixed. Reynolds classic Van Wilder style of comedy was largely featured, leaving me a little annoyed. Even more worrying was what seemed to be some sketchy CGI, especially Jordan’s Lantern suit. Well, now the full trailer has debuted, and after watching it several times I’m both apprehensive and pretty excited. Watch below or check it out here in HD as well.

Zack Synder is the king of Comic Con debuting footage from his past works like 300, and Watchmen to great success there. While I have mixed feelings about both of those movies I can’t help but still be excited about his visual style. Which this trailer for his upcoming “female 300″ Sucker Punch has in spades. Here’s the plot description:
Sucker Punch is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. When the word broke that Ryan Reynolds‘ suit in Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern would be totally CGI, feelings were mixed in the fan community. After all practical effects always seem to feel more real. However, after seeing the first image of Reynolds in the suit below I must say that I’m warming to the idea. Read the rest of this entry »
New Trailer | Red
The DC graphic novel "Red."
The first trailer for Red, a DC comics adaptation of about a group of Ex-CIA agents who just can’t move smoothly into retirement is now online. The movie stars Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Mary-Louise Parker, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Karl Urban and Brian Cox among others and looks like a whole lot of fun. The most refreshing part of this trailer is how the cinematography doesn’t rely on cheap comic book stylings to appeal to fanboys. Or maybe it’s just the prestigious cast that makes it stand out.
The flick is directed by Robert Schwentke of Filghtplan and The Time Travelers Wife fame. Two movies I haven’t seen, but have heard good things about. Check out the trailer below or in HD at Yahoo. Red hits theaters October 15th.

Now here’s some news that really gets me excited. THR reported that Warner Bros and DC are finally gearing up some of their second tier characters for big screen debuts. First up, Warner chairman Barry Meyer broke the news that The Flash is close to being green lit, and that Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and a cryptic Mad Magazine movie aren’t far behind. Behold the first Filmdogs DVD Commentary!!! What is a Filmdogs DVD Commentary you might ask? Well, It’s an audio track in which our normal Filmdogs Podcasting crew provides you with our semi-informative, semi-funny, and semi-stupid thoughts on the entirety a chosen feature film. It’s just like any normal commentary track you might find any number of DVDs in your collection, except without the star power. So, what better way to start off this new experiment here at the site than by busting out our mics to chat up one of the biggest movie disasters of 2010, the DC Comics adaptation Jonah Hex.
