Under The Radar | Song of the South
God bless my father. He has instilled in me the love of films and to appreciate the classics. That said, he managed to obtain a bootleg copy of Song of the South on DVD and I mouth wateringly needed to see it. Mainly because I don’t understand why the hell Disney is so afraid of this film and it’s release to the masses. All those kids who love the “Splash Mountain” ride at Disneyland have no f**king clue about the origin of its characters. Man up Disney, we all have demons from our past, and we shouldn’t be afraid of them. Proceed.

Happy Halloween From Filmdogs!!!
We here at Filmdogs want to wish all our readers a Happy Halloween. Whether your celebrating the holiday by dressing up as your favorite movie character, or simply watching AMC’s The Walking Dead tonight, we hope your Halloween is a frightfully good time.
My personal tradition on this holiday is, oddly enough watching the Halloween themed animated shorts from Walt Disney. Behold my favorite of these below, in which a rather mean spirited Donald Duck gets taught a lesson by a Witch after spoiling Huey, Duey, and Louie’s fun on Halloween night. Here’s Donald Duck in 1954′s Trick or Treat. Enjoy.
Sample Daft Punk’s Tron Legacy Soundtrack
Six tracks from Daft Punk‘s Tron Legacy score have made their way online, and continue the dark trend from earlier trailers. The music seems to fit nicely with the stark visual tone of the film, maybe even taking some influence from Vangelis’ Blade Runner score. Listen in below.

Ahoy, C***suckers!
It was announced today that everyone’s favorite angry, cursing brothel owner Ian McShane is “in talks” to be the villain in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”. The fourth installment of the Disney series will follow the story of Jack Sparrow’s (Johnny Depp) search for the Fountain of Youth. McShane would play the famous pirate Blackbeard. Have to admit, I just got a little excited about this movie. One of the best parts of the second “Pirates” flick was Bill Nighy’s glee-filled scenery chewing as the tentacled Davy Jones. There’s no doubt that if Ian McShane gets his hands on the infamous Blackbeard, he’ll do a good amount of gnawing as well. But, if given the chance, he could also be quite an intimidating villain. McShane would join Depp and Penelope Cruz on this Rob Marshall-helmed “Pirates” ship.
Side note: Rob Marshall directing? Does that mean we may see a “Pirate’s Life for Me” song and dance number on the Black Pearl? Something to think about…
