Commentary Commentary | The Last of the Mohicans
My list of ten favorite filmmakers is constantly changing. There are, however, a handful of directors that will always stay put, and Michael Mann is in this category. Although he is mainly known as the “crime filmmaker”, his style is vibrantly unique using imagery and music in ways that create beautiful atmosphere and breathtaking drama. I find it to be a cinematic gift when Michael Mann gives even the slightest glimpse into his creative process, and that is one of the many reasons Fox’s newly released Blu Ray for The Last of the Mohicans is a worthy upgrade for fans. Greatest Casting Rumor Ever | Mad Men’s Jon Hamm as Superman?

1. A person with a devotion to something in a way that places him or her outside the mainstream. This could be due to the intensity, depth, or subject of their interest.
2. a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, esp. one who is perceived to be overly intellectual.
3. A carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts, as biting off the head of a live chicken.
Mad Men is the best show on television. Maybe even the best of all time, and the character of enigmatic ad-man Donald Draper as played by actor Jon Hamm is classic. Draper is an embodiment of a certain type of American ideal, so who better to play the part of America’s first and most iconic superhero.

Geek Round Up| The Riddler in Batman 3, Thor and Captain America Posters, and Cult Art
A “reliable source” from website www.firstshowing.net has gotten it’s hands on a casting grid for Batman 3 indicating that The Riddler is the primary villain in the film. A casting grid is basically a chart for agents and studios to keep them abreast of what roles need to be cast in said film. The site is also claiming that the chart puts actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the top spot for the role. The casting could be feasible considering Levitt’s recent work with Nolan in Inception, and I’d be down with him playing the part as he’s a fantastic young actor. However, I’m still holding out hope that Nolan and his brother, Batman 3 screenwriter Jonathan Nolan, will go with a villain we haven’t seen before. This would be more in line with every statement all the creators have made regarding the 3rd film in the series. Read the rest of this entry »

In the past few weeks we’ve learned that Christoper Nolan is going to be following up his film “Inception” with a sequel to “The Dark Knight.” This news was incredibly exciting for the geek nation. Added to this was the equally mind melting info that Nolan would be “god-fathering” a new Superman film into production. Read the rest of this entry »

I came across this article at Deadline Hollywood linking posting a hilarious rant from comedian Andre’ Meadows of Black Nerd Comedy. The title: Lost and Heroes Hate Black People. Check out the video below, it’s funny stuff.

When Nolan speaks we listen.
The official title for Batman 3 is The Dark Knight Rises, and if that’s not enough to get your gears turning Director Christopher Nolan also revealed in the interview with Geoff Boucher at Hero Complex that The Riddler WON’T be the main villain in the film. This is as we know a huge amount of information coming from the notoriously secretive director, and may be biggest news surrounding the film we receive in a while.
As for the title itself I was personally hoping for Legends of the Dark Knight, but The Dark Knight Rises implies even more that the film is the final installment in the trilogy, and that Batman/Bruce Wayne will “rise” above the grim circumstances he found himself at in the end of The Dark Knight. What situation and/or character will help him overcome this in Rises? Could it be the new female lead they have started casting? The comic basis for The Dark Knight was The Long Halloween, could it’s follow up Dark Victory featuring a young Robin character help Bruce overcome his darkness? Or could simply defeating a new villain possibly played by the recently cast Tom Hardy serve the same purpose? One things for sure, it’s a great time to be a Batman fan. Thanks again Mr. Nolan.
