The Dark Knight | Bank Robbery Prologue
It’s Valentines Day and if you believe in love at first sight then love at first listen shouldn’t be too much of a stretch. It’s truly amazing the impression the first few seconds of a film can leave you with. Just take my previous Batman related Score Your Week as an example. I’ll never forget seeing The Dark Knight in theaters for the first time. It ranks up there with the Star Wars Prequels and Lord of the Rings on my most anticipated films list easily. So, as I sat waiting for the picture to roll I couldn’t help but wonder how it would begin, even if the IMAX prologue had already been released to promote the movie.

Greatest Casting Rumor Ever | Mad Men’s Jon Hamm as Superman?

Mad Men is the best show on television. Maybe even the best of all time, and the character of enigmatic ad-man Donald Draper as played by actor Jon Hamm is classic. Draper is an embodiment of a certain type of American ideal, so who better to play the part of America’s first and most iconic superhero.

Geek Round Up| The Riddler in Batman 3, Thor and Captain America Posters, and Cult Art

A “reliable source” from website www.firstshowing.net has gotten it’s hands on a casting grid for Batman 3 indicating that The Riddler is the primary villain in the film. A casting grid is basically a chart for agents and studios to keep them abreast of what roles need to be cast in said film. The site is also claiming that the chart puts actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the top spot for the role. The casting could be feasible considering Levitt’s recent work with Nolan in Inception, and I’d be down with him playing the part as he’s a fantastic young actor. However, I’m still holding out hope that Nolan and his brother, Batman 3 screenwriter Jonathan Nolan, will go with a villain we haven’t seen before. Scene Stealer | The Dark Knight – Interrogation Scene

Scene Stealer is new column that will be bringing you a classic, iconic, or just plain awesome movie scene as often as possible. Since Christoper Nolan’s much anticipated film Inception is released this Friday I figured his filmography would be a good place to start. However, most of the iconic scenes in Nolan’s pictures involve heavy spoilers due the plot twists in those stories. So, I had somewhat of a hard time picking today’s first showcase.
The natural solution was as clear as day in the end though. While Memento may be Nolan’s most individual work The Dark Knight is his most successful. Not only because of the classic characters, but the pathos in which they were written, preformed, and directed. Therefore, what scene in the film is the both the centerpiece of the story and the culmination of both Batman and The Joker’s ideals? The Interrogation Scene. Read the rest of this entry »

When Nolan speaks we listen.
The official title for Batman 3 is The Dark Knight Rises, and if that’s not enough to get your gears turning Director Christopher Nolan also revealed in the interview with Geoff Boucher at Hero Complex that The Riddler WON’T be the main villain in the film. This is as we know a huge amount of information coming from the notoriously secretive director, and may be biggest news surrounding the film we receive in a while.
As for the title itself I was personally hoping for Legends of the Dark Knight, but The Dark Knight Rises implies even more that the film is the final installment in the trilogy, and that Batman/Bruce Wayne will “rise” above the grim circumstances he found himself at in the end of The Dark Knight. What situation and/or character will help him overcome this in Rises? Could it be the new female lead they have started casting? The comic basis for The Dark Knight was The Long Halloween, could it’s follow up Dark Victory featuring a young Robin character help Bruce overcome his darkness? Or could simply defeating a new villain possibly played by the recently cast Tom Hardy serve the same purpose? One things for sure, it’s a great time to be a Batman fan. Thanks again Mr. Nolan.
