The Filmdogs Podcast: Episode 36 – Exit Through the Podcast Shop

Episode 36 of the Filmdogs Podcast is here and just in time for awards season! This week in the News we discuss the recent casting/character announcements for The Dark Knight Rises with Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, and Tom Hardy as Bane. We also try to decipher if Kevin Smith has truly gone off the deep end with his recent controversy at Sundance. In both our In Defense of and One Liner of the Week segments we chat up the underrated?, sequel Back to the Future: Part III. Plus, in our Featured Topic we weed through the recent Oscar Nominations and issue verdicts as to what the Academy got right and what they got terribly wrong. To not listen in could have grave effects on the space time continuum. Heavy.

On this edition of Your Poster is Cool I have round up four very different posters. Trailer Exam | The Coen Brothers’ True Grit

Apple has released the trailer for Joel and Ethan Coen‘s upcoming adaptation/remake of True Grit, and it is a amazing spectacle. Running only a minute long, the trailer is the perfect taste of what is to come. It sets up the story with a sure hand and allows us to be thrust into the amazing images photographed by Coen regular Roger Deakins. The film stars Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, Hailee Steinfeld, and opens on December 25, 2010. Check out the trailer below.

Sample Daft Punk’s Tron Legacy Soundtrack

Six tracks from Daft Punk‘s Tron Legacy score have made their way online, and continue the dark trend from earlier trailers. The music seems to fit nicely with the stark visual tone of the film, maybe even taking some influence from Vangelis’ Blade Runner score. Listen in below.

New Tron Legacy Trailer features two versions of Jeff Bridges

Yahoo Movies has just released yet another amazing trailer for Disney’s upcoming film Tron: Legacy, and just in time for Comic Con. I can’t say enough about the visual style of the film and the computer enhanced shots of a younger Jeff Bridges look pretty incredible. View the trailer below or in HD at Yahoo.

Under the Radar/Score Your Week | Arlington Road

This is a column that will focus on little known films, directors, writers, and actors. The column does not exist to tell you what to watch, but to simply help raise interest in the great art and talent that goes unseen year by year.

And, since this is a combo article…

Every Monday here at Filmdogs, a member of the pack will be offering a recommendation for a soundtrack to help you speed up those never ending work days and (if possible) inspire you.

Arlington Road was directed by Mark Pellington (The Mothman Prophecies) from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger (The Ring) and it’s a sadly overlooked gem from way back in ’99. It stars Jeff Bridges, Tim Robbins, and Joan Cusack.

Paranoia strikes deep.

This Tron Fan Video looks as good as the trailer for the uncoming Tron: Legacy

Having never seen the original Tron from the 80s I was then skeptical when I heard a sequel was on the way. Yet, the trailers for this fall’s Tron: Legacy looked extremely stylish and promising. Plus, having the now Oscar winner Jeff Bridges reprising his role can’t hurt. Check out the official trailer below. Read the rest of this entry »
