Fantastic Four Reboot | Director Rumors

On last week’s episode of the Filmdogs podcast, In the Lounge with W, J, and J; Mr. Will, Mr. Edens, and I discussed the fact that 20th Century Fox was rebooting the the Fantastic Four franchise. Adrien Brody and Amber Heard were some names being thrown around, and now ComicBookMovie is reporting that three directors are already in talks to pick up where Tim Story left off. The names being mentioned are Joe Carnahan (Narc, Smokin’ Aces, The A-Team), David Yates (The Girl in the Cafe, Harry Potter 5-7), and James McTeigue (V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin). Although none of these names really do much for me, I think it is obvious that Fox is interested in finding a director with a strong cinematic voice. Yates is the best of the three, but truthfully I don’t think it is in his best interest to finish one of the most popular franchises of all time only to go slumming with this one. What do you guys think?

Steroids are encouraged.

Finally! Some explosions | Review of “The A Team”

It’s been a boring summer season. Not a single film I’ve seen stands out in my mind, Robin Hood anyone? For me it’s up to Christopher Nolan to save the summer with this thriller, Inception. So imagine my surprise when the first film to feel like a real blockbuster is based off everyone’s favorite cheesy 80s TV Show, The A Team.

Now, I never had high hopes for The A Team movie. I loved the show when I was 13, but remember next to nothing about the characters, save for Mr. T’s haircut. Yet, under the direction of Joe Carnahan the flick has a real sense of fun that never lets up for a minute. Read the rest of this entry »
