Trailer Exam | The Green Lantern
In the past few years I’ve become a fairly massive fan of the DC Comics character The Green Lantern thanks to the work of writer/DC Executive officer Geoff Johns. So naturally Martin Campbell’s upcoming film adaptation of the hero is something I’ve been looking forward to for several years now. I haven’t agreed with all the casting choices mainly Ryan Reynolds in the lead role of Hal Jordon, but I’ve since warmed to this decision. Last Friday when Entertainment Tonight debuted several seconds of the film’s trailer feelings were mixed. Reynolds classic Van Wilder style of comedy was largely featured, leaving me a little annoyed. Even more worrying was what seemed to be some sketchy CGI, especially Jordan’s Lantern suit. Well, now the full trailer has debuted, and after watching it several times I’m both apprehensive and pretty excited. Watch below or check it out here in HD as well.

2. a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, esp. one who is perceived to be overly intellectual.
3. A carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts, as biting off the head of a live chicken.
Zack Synder is the king of Comic Con debuting footage from his past works like 300, and Watchmen to great success there. While I have mixed feelings about both of those movies I can’t help but still be excited about his visual style. Which this trailer for his upcoming “female 300″ Sucker Punch has in spades. Here’s the plot description:
Sucker Punch is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, but her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary…with potentially tragic consequences. Earlier today we posted the cover of next weeks Entertainment Weekly featuring the first photo of Ryan Reynolds in full Green Lantern garb. Now more pictures from the article have been released with actors Tim Robbins, Peter Sarsgaard, and Blake Lively’s characters. Check then out below:

When the word broke that Ryan Reynolds‘ suit in Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern would be totally CGI, feelings were mixed in the fan community. After all practical effects always seem to feel more real. However, after seeing the first image of Reynolds in the suit below I must say that I’m warming to the idea. Read the rest of this entry »
Caption Kangaroo- Captions and the City 2
Well hi there. My name’s Ms. Mack, and I like funny captions. Hence my column, “Caption Kangaroo”. The concept is simple- I will take screen shots from movies both good and bad and write funny things about said photos. Commence with the giggling.
Return to Nottingham | Review of Robin Hood
This weekend Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe presented us with the newest re-imaging of the classic folklore hero of Sherwood Forest, Robin Hood. From Ridley Scott I was expecting something of a gritty realistic version of the character, that would show what it would be like if such a man had existed. What I got instead was about half of a gritty retelling, and the other half felt like the first act of a Hollywood retread.
The Funny Watchmen | Review: “Kick-Ass”
The fanboy community had been buzzing for months in anticipation for Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of comic god Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass. The film looked to be a violent and harshly funny take on the superhero genre. Something that could be a welcome release from the typical comic book fare we’ve been getting in theaters lately. I hoped the film would live up to the hype, and the good news is, it just plain kicked it’s ass. Read the rest of this entry »

???
A “reliable source” from website www.firstshowing.net has gotten it’s hands on a casting grid for Batman 3 indicating that The Riddler is the primary villain in the film. A casting grid is basically a chart for agents and studios to keep them abreast of what roles need to be cast in said film. The site is also claiming that the chart puts actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the top spot for the role. The casting could be feasible considering Levitt’s recent work with Nolan in Inception, and I’d be down with him playing the part as he’s a fantastic young actor. However, I’m still holding out hope that Nolan and his brother, Batman 3 screenwriter Jonathan Nolan, will go with a villain we haven’t seen before. This would be more in line with every statement all the creators have made regarding the 3rd film in the series. Read the rest of this entry »
