5 min Thor Comic Con Trailer is here!

The extended trailer for Marvel’s Thor that was shown at Comic Con is now online, and is an interesting bled of super cheesy drama and fairly badass action. Whether or not the film will turn out to be fun or a complete mess is still up in the air, but it looks like director Kenneth Branagh is the right choice for the material after all. Check out the trailer below or on our YouTube channel.

Thor is released May 11th 2011.

Comic Con Round Up | News & Trailers

Dr. McCoy himself Karl Urban has been confirmed to play Judge Dredd in an upcoming reboot. I know next to nothing about this character, but Urban is a fantastic actor and it will be great to see in him a lead role, sort of:

If anyone is familiar with Dredd, over the years there are many times when Dredd removes his helmet but you never fully see his face and that was construct by the creator, Mr. Wagner. He represents that faceless system of justice and law. I will say this, hypothetically if I went to a movie that was called “Judge Dredd” and the character or the actor who played Judge Dredd took the helmet and I would see his full face and features I would puke in my popcorn because that’s not Dredd. He’s mysterious and enigmatic. We’re going to do it right.

Here’s the trailer for Dexter season 5. I can’t wait! Read the rest of this entry »

Geek Round Up| The Riddler in Batman 3, Thor and Captain America Posters, and Cult Art

???

A “reliable source” from website www.firstshowing.net has gotten it’s hands on a casting grid for Batman 3 indicating that The Riddler is the primary villain in the film. A casting grid is basically a chart for agents and studios to keep them abreast of what roles need to be cast in said film. The site is also claiming that the chart puts actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the top spot for the role. The casting could be feasible considering Levitt’s recent work with Nolan in Inception, and I’d be down with him playing the part as he’s a fantastic young actor. However, I’m still holding out hope that Nolan and his brother, Batman 3 screenwriter Jonathan Nolan, will go with a villain we haven’t seen before. This would be more in line with every statement all the creators have made regarding the 3rd film in the series. Read the rest of this entry »

Geek Round Up | More Green Lantern Pics, plus 1st Thor images

geek
Slang.
1. A person with a devotion to something in a way that places him or her outside the mainstream. This could be due to the intensity, depth, or subject of their interest.

2. a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, esp. one who is perceived to be overly intellectual.

3. A carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts, as biting off the head of a live chicken.

Earlier today we posted the cover of next weeks Entertainment Weekly featuring the first photo of Ryan Reynolds in full Green Lantern garb. Now more pictures from the article have been released with actors Tim Robbins, Peter Sarsgaard, and Blake Lively’s characters. Check then out below:

The Filmdogs Podcast: Episode 16 – Podcast vs. Predators

The 16th Episode of The Filmdogs Podcast has arrived and it’s more deadly than a Predator’s self destruct device. Special guest and new Filmdogs writer/contributor Mr. Holt joins us this week as we discuss the Hulk situation, and the possibility of Jonathan Nolan directing the new Superman film in the News. We do an in depth review of Nimród Antal’s film Predators for our Featured Topic and wrap things up with a One-Liner of the Week from Arnold in the original film. It’s an episode with so much going on it doesn’t “have time to bleed.”

Ed Norton’s Classy Response to Marvel Nastiness

All this Hulk recasting business is making a lot of fans angry. Plus, with the crazy rumors of  “retired” actor Joaquin Phoenix being offered the role of Bruce Banner in Norton’s stead the whole situation seems to keep on escalating. (Yes Marvel, Phoenix will be MUCH easier to handle) Yet, it seems as if actor Edward Norton will come out of the situation head held high after Marvel’s below the belt statements the other day. Here’s Norton’s response to his fans that he issued on facebook today: Read the rest of this entry »

Bad News | No more HULK for Ed Norton

Too bad. We liked him when he was angry.

Hitfix reported the rumor yesterday that Ed Norton wasn’t going to be playing The Hulk in the upcoming film The Avengers, or any sequels to 08′s The Incredible Hulk for that matter. The reason? One could only guess monetary/creative differences. Well, now it seems they have confirmed what fans have long expected given the relationship between Norton and Marvel. Recently the actor said he was waiting for a phone call from Marvel and was game to play the character again, but apparently the studios opinion of him hadn’t changed. Here’s what Marvel studio head President of Production Kevin Feige sent to Hitfix. Read the rest of this entry »
