Transformers 2 – The Real Review TV Spot
Do you ever wish that TV spots for movies using reviews from critics were more honest? Do you sometimes feel as if the quotes on these ads are taken out of context? When the dust settles the winner of best 2010 action team-up film is…
Hollywood loves to shell out similar films in a given year, (Dante’s Peak and Volcano, Deep Impact and Armageddon) and 2010 is no exception. This year the old school action team-up made a comeback with movies like, The Losers, The A-Team, and The Expendables with varying results. So, I thought it would be in fitting with the spirit of those films to pit them against one another, and see which one comes out on top. Here are the 2010 action team-up awards. Steroids are encouraged.

Double Wide Trailer Exam | “How Do You Know” and “Daydream Nation”
How Do You Know is the new film by James L. Brooks, and I must say I am only mildly interested in it judging by this trailer. Brooks has some really great films (Broadcast News, As Good as it Gets, Spanglish), but they all had a little more to offer than your average rom com. How Do You Know seems to be treading some familiar water, but it does have a great cast and maybe Brooks isn’t showing us everything. The film stars Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson, Jack Nicholson and opens December 17, 2010.
Daydream Nation is an independent film that is premiering at the Toronto Film Festival and though I know next to nothing about the film, I must say the trailer is extremely enticing. It is filled with smash cuts and great music, but it also hides behind them. This could go either way because it is no secret that a trailer can make a bad movie look good; all it has to do is showcase great editing and music. Regardless of how the film turns out, the trailer for Daydream Nation is still worth checking out. Continue on to do so. Read the rest of this entry »

A+ Action: A Review of “The A-Team”
My first impression of “The A-Team”, before it was even released, was that this was a movie made for chicks…that happened to include explosions. I mean, come on- Liam Neeson? Silver fox. Bradley Cooper? Body of a God. Patrick Wilson? Sexy bad guy. Even Sharlto Copley has a rugged handsomeness about him. This was a flick full of sexy men (including one who frequently- and thankfully- takes his shirt off), running around looking bad-ass and manly. Action flick? Yes. But one that was made to get the ladies excited, too.
Finally! Some explosions | Review of “The A Team”
It’s been a boring summer season. Not a single film I’ve seen stands out in my mind, Robin Hood anyone? For me it’s up to Christopher Nolan to save the summer with this thriller, Inception. So imagine my surprise when the first film to feel like a real blockbuster is based off everyone’s favorite cheesy 80s TV Show, The A Team.
Now, I never had high hopes for The A Team movie. I loved the show when I was 13, but remember next to nothing about the characters, save for Mr. T’s haircut. Yet, under the direction of Joe Carnahan the flick has a real sense of fun that never lets up for a minute. Read the rest of this entry »
