When the dust settles the winner of best 2010 action team-up film is…

Hollywood loves to shell out similar films in a given year, (Dante’s Peak and Volcano, Deep Impact and Armageddon) and 2010 is no exception. This year the old school action team-up made a comeback with movies like, The Losers, The A-Team, and The Expendables with varying results. So, I thought it would be in fitting with the spirit of those films to pit them against one another, and see which one comes out on top. Here are the 2010 action team-up awards. The Filmdogs Podcast: In the Lounge with J and J

Mr. Will was away on “business” so myself and Mr. Jason took it upon ourselves to handle the podcast duties this week. “In the Lounge with J and J” was the result! It’s just the two of us kicking back and discussing movies. This time, we hit recent films we had seen and it was a jolly good time. Some of the special mentions include: The Karate Kid trilogy, Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing and The 25th Hour, The Wrestler, Watchmen, Christine, and Godard’s Breathless.

Summer has begun | “Iron Man 2″ Review

You would have to be living under two rocks to be unaware that Iron Man 2, the sequel to the 2008 surprise hit starring the unlikely superhero Robert Downey Jr. was released today. The film has already made over 100 million in it’s first week out oversees. And If the crowd at the midnight show I attended last night is any indication this movie is going to be huge. The BAFTAs or Oscars with an Accent

“The Hurt Locker” took home all the big prizes at this years BAFTAs, the British version of the Oscars. Kathryn Bigelow added another notch to her belt on her quest to become the first female director to win a Academy Award by taking the Best Director prize. The film also took home Best Film and Original Screenplay while “Avatar” was snubbed in all the major categories.

Now wether or not these awards are a good indicator of the Oscars remains to be seen, but Bigelow is looking more and more like a sure thing. Especially after winning Best Director at the Directors Guild the other day. Check out her acceptance speech below. Read the rest of this entry »
