Poll | “Predators” What did you think?
Another sequel in the much troubled Alien and Predator franchises is out in theaters, and the good news is its the best film in either series since the original Predator in 1987. Director Nimród Antal has crafted a fun, thrilling, and faithful picture that most fans should enjoy. We’ll be doing a full on detailed review on the Podcast this week, but until then give us your thoughts on the film by voting below or in the right sidebar.
The real “Machete” trailer
For those that saw Grindhouse in theaters you know that the weakest faux trailer attached to the films was Robert Rodriguez’s Machete. So, when I heard that Rodriguez wanted to create a feature length film around the character I rolled my eyes. It’s seems to me that the character is a one note joke, not something that warranted a movie. I’d much rather him go ahead with Sin City 2 than waste his time, but then again I’ve never been a big fan of his anyway.
With that said the trailer for the feature length Machete has hit the web and it seems to take itself a little too seriously. It does have a rather large cast however, and I doubt the product will be anything less than fun. Hopefully. Check it out thanks to IGN below. Read the rest of this entry »

The Grindhouse Double Feature finally coming to DVD/Blu-Ray?
The theatrical experience of Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse was one of the best times I’ve ever had at the movies. Dispite what you think of both QT’s Death Proof and Rodriguez’s Planet Terror I can assure you that seeing both films at a midnight showing full of my fellow film nerds was a ton of fun. Yet, my experience was never complete because the large coke I was drinking backfired on me, causing me to miss most of the trailers in between the features. For those that don’t know these faux previews were directed by the likes of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World‘s Edgar Wright, Hostel’s Eli Roth, The Devil Rejects‘ Rob Zombie. Read the rest of this entry »
Under the Radar | The Predator Franchise
Initially this column was created (by Mr. Jason, I might add) for the reason to help promote lesser known directors, films and the like. I feel that it could be expanded into other areas that might be considered “under the radar”. Such as films that are underrated or forgotten about with time. I think these films are just as important to be “remembered”.
Since I was seven or eight I was in love with the film Predator. It’s one that could almost be filed under a Cheese Factor review for the over the top macho performances from the soldiers, but like the Alien franchise…it’s the monster that really shines.
Geek Round Up | First Footage from Predators debuts
geek
Slang.
1. A person with a devotion to something in a way that places him or her outside the mainstream. This could be due to the intensity, depth, or subject of their interest.
2. a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, esp. one who is perceived to be overly intellectual.
3. A carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts, as biting off the head of a live chicken.
Geek Round Up is a new Filmdogs column celebrating the best geeky filmic news. Basically anything that incites us geeks to push our glasses up the bridge of our nose, and lean closer to our computer screens with excitement. So, let’s do just that.
Predator fans have been burned over the years with insulting trash like the Alien Vs. Predator movies. So when Sin City director Robert Rodriguez announcing he was producing Predators, a sequel and throw back to the first film in the franchise I was intrigued. The synonsis is as follows: Read the rest of this entry »
