Score Your Week | Up “Seizing The Spirit of Adventure”
The Oscar winning score from Up has enough great tracks on it to last a few months on Score Your Week, but there’s one track that just gets me on the edge of my seat every time. Read on!
Scene Stealer | Thanksgiving in SPACE….
Ok, so this dinner scene from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country doesn’t really have anything to do with Thanksgiving. It does however feature plenty of awkward moments between former enemies The Federation, (Kirk and Company) and the Klingon Empire (the bastard’s that killed Kirk’s son). An impending peace treaty between the two groups may be a good reason to sit down to dinner, but it doesn’t mean that Kirk has to be polite. Throw in Christopher Plummer as the Shakespeare spouting villain General Chang (I guess Asian Klingon’s are Canadian) and you’re bound to have a little drama at the dinner table.

Score Your Week | Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
This week on Score Your Week I wanted to showcase one of my favorite move introductions. The film is Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, one of my favorites out of all of the Star Trek films.
Thoughts on the Alien Prequel
So, I typically follow any and all Alien (and to a lesser extent, Predator) news. That said, there is an Alien prequel (or maybe 2) on the way. Ridley Scott is slated to direct. Proceed.
Score Your Week | Lost Season 1
At the beginning of the week here at Filmdogs, a member of the pack will be offering a recommendation for a soundtrack to help you speed up those never ending work days and (if possible) inspire you.
One of my most fulfilling cinematic moments of 2010 was watching the bone white text appear one last time at the end of my favorite show, LOST. It was an astonishing moment for me to look back at six years with these characters and their journey, and finally find closure. Luckily I will be able to relive what I could consider to be my favorite film of 2010 once again, as the final season hits dvd this Tuesday. In honor of this fantastic week I will be spotlighting one of the most important characters of Lost, Michael Giacchino’s music. Giacchino has produced some of the best and most interesting scores of late including Star Trek, Fringe, The Incredibles, and his oscar winning score for Up, but it is with Lost that he really made his mark. From screeching horns to piano ballads, Giacchino helped usher along every emotion that the show had to offer.
Jack Ryan Gets a “Lost” Director
It was announced sometime ago that Chris Pine, aka Captain Kirk version 2, was going to play Tom Clancy‘s famous CIA analyst Jack Ryan. I felt that this was a definite step in the right direction especially after the colossal creative failure that was The Sum of All Fears. Although the lead actor was locked, Paramount had not yet found a director to tackle the fifth installment until now. According to Vulture, Jack Bender is the front runner for the position and I happen to think this is a fantastic choice. Jack Bender is primarily known for his work as a director on Lost and he has directed some of the most iconic episodes of the show, including the series finale. Continue reading to find out the plot and title of the film.
