Score Your Week | Lost Season 1
At the beginning of the week here at Filmdogs, a member of the pack will be offering a recommendation for a soundtrack to help you speed up those never ending work days and (if possible) inspire you.
One of my most fulfilling cinematic moments of 2010 was watching the bone white text appear one last time at the end of my favorite show, LOST. It was an astonishing moment for me to look back at six years with these characters and their journey, and finally find closure. Luckily I will be able to relive what I could consider to be my favorite film of 2010 once again, as the final season hits dvd this Tuesday. In honor of this fantastic week I will be spotlighting one of the most important characters of Lost, Michael Giacchino’s music. Giacchino has produced some of the best and most interesting scores of late including Star Trek, Fringe, The Incredibles, and his oscar winning score for Up, but it is with Lost that he really made his mark. From screeching horns to piano ballads, Giacchino helped usher along every emotion that the show had to offer.

Geek Round Up is a Filmdogs column celebrating the best geeky filmic news. Basically anything that incites us geeks to push our glasses up the bridge of our nose, and lean closer to our computer screens with excitement. So, let’s do just that.
Brad Bird is one of my favorite directors. Period. His films The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, and Ratatouille transcend animation in such a way that the word “cartoon” never enters your mind. Now, it seems as if the director is finally taking the leap into the live action world. According to Vulture Bird is in final talks to helm the fourth installment in one of the most diverse franchises in existence. The Mission Impossible series.

Pixar is indeed in the Sequel Business
A new trailer for “Toy Story 3″ has debuted today on myspace of all places and it looks, well…just ok. Something about this sequel feels more like a “Shrek” film than a pixar classic. Which makes me very afraid for the future of the stellar company. Plans for a sequel to the stuido’s most lackluster effort “Cars” are in the works as well as “Monsters Inc. 2.” All this comes after Disney animation head John Lasseter famously stated a few years ago that “Pixar is not in the Sequel Business.” Oh how I wish that were true.
