Oliver Stone’s Public Service Annoucement | Review: “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”
As a fan of Oliver Stone’s “America” I was excited when I heard that his sequel to his 1987 original, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps was a return to form. I had missed the man who brought us such films as Platoon and JFK. He’s a director who always tries to push the envelope stylistically, and while he may he may often go overboard (Alexander, which I kinda like…) I still tend to enjoy his work. The sad fact is though that Money Never Sleeps comes off as a preachy and heavy handed effort, filled with meandering storylines.

Ridley and Leo together again.
According to Deadline Leonardo DiCaprio will star in the one time Scorsese vehicle The Wolf of Wall Street. Here’s the how the memior by Jordan Belfort is described on the cover:
Stock Market multimillionaire at 26, federal convict at 36, I partied like a rock star, lived like a king, and barely survived my rise and fall as an American entrepreneurial icon.
Sounds a little too much like Wall Street, not to mention the fact that that films sequel is coming out soon, but Wolf has the advantage of being a true story. The movie is still in the development stage at this point, so don’t expect much movement for the time being.
I only wish the title of this article had been about Scott’s return to Sci-fi, but that’s neither here nor there.

This usually gets people talking about how horrible the film must be, but there could be numerous reasons that such a thing took place. I think the most obvious reason is 20th Century Fox probably thinks that pitting a drama heavy film against huge blockbusters may not be the way to go. I wouldn’t be surprised if the studio is planning an Oscar campaign for Michael Douglas as well. Douglas has already received an Oscar for his original portrayal of the character, and I’m sure a great many are interested to see what he has to offer a second time around. Making best/worst of lists every year is something I always look forward to, yet given the fact that we’re new on the critical scene here at Filmdogs we don’t really get the chance to see all the “Awards Pictures” till closer to Oscar time. So our best of lists won’t debut until around that time, when we’ve had a chance to see a few more of the flicks released in 2010. However, I don’t expect some of those unseen films like The Kings Speech and Blue Valentine ending up on the list below based upon their glowing reviews. It’s my Worst Films of 2010, and some of the choices may surprise you…
