Zack Snyder to Direct Superman Reboot

After the list of potential directors for the Christopher Nolan produced Superman hit the net, a lot of the film community was in an uproar. Consisting of Tony Scott, Matt Reeves, Duncan Jones, and Zack Snyder, the list was an underwhelming look at the direction the Superman franchise could take. Then to add another strange layer, Darren Aronofsky and Ben Affleck were two names thrown into the mix. Casting Updates from Bale, Law, Scre4m & Glee

Christian Bale and Zach Synder

Word is that Christian Bale is set to star in The Last Photograph, with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo director Sergey Bodrov set to helm the picture. The idea for the story apparently comes from Zach Synder (300, Watchmen) and is described as follows:

[the plot] revolves around a photograph that becomes the catalyst for a journey two men undertake through war-torn Afghanistan.

Bale will follow up the film with the next picture from director Terrence Malick (The Thin Red Line, A New World) supposedly a love story. Javier Bardem, Rachel McAdams, and Olga Kurylenko are said to co-star. Read the rest of this entry »

The Filmdogs Podcast: In the Lounge with J and J

Mr. Will was away on “business” so myself and Mr. Jason took it upon ourselves to handle the podcast duties this week. “In the Lounge with J and J” was the result! It’s just the two of us kicking back and discussing movies. This time, we hit recent films we had seen and it was a jolly good time. Some of the special mentions include: The Karate Kid trilogy, Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing and The 25th Hour, The Wrestler, Watchmen, Christine, and Godard’s Breathless.

The Funny Watchmen | Review: “Kick-Ass”

The fanboy community had been buzzing for months in anticipation for Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of comic god Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass. The film looked to be a violent and harshly funny take on the superhero genre. Something that could be a welcome release from the typical comic book fare we’ve been getting in theaters lately.
