Some time in 2009 I was being forced to watch Julie and Julia with my lovely fiance. The movie actually gave me the idea to start a blog about movies. Thank you “ok” movie! I owe you at least a simple tip ‘o the hat. The same evening I sent an email to Will, who I thought would be the perfect collaborator, since we’re both absolutely insane about movies. Insane like a used car salesman about his great deals!
Will and I first met back in 2004 A.D. where we were both attending film school together. He had a mustache at the time and we all thought he was a serial killer. Needless to say, he’s shaved since, but we still want him to grow it back for the hell of it.
We both worked on a short film during our digital cinematography class called Last Session and the rest is really history. After film school, I went back to art school, and then on to graphic design school. Now, here we are, making us a home for our film obsessions. Please if you would, take a look around and enjoy!
LIST O FAVS (in no particular order…except Aliens, it’s #1): Aliens, Alien, Mad Max, The Road Warrior, The Terminator, Total Recall, Unforgiven, Children of Men, Big Trouble in Little China, Dirty Harry, Blade Runner, Apocalypto, Amelie and The Dark Knight

Film is the love of my life. Sad? Maybe, but chances are if you are reading this you understand this high maintenance relationship. So when my old friend from film school Mr. Edens had the idea to start a movie blog I naturally thought it was a great idea. My role models range anywhere from Batman to Peter Weir and even Ernest P. Worrell. Apart from blogging on Filmdogs I have (and still do) dabble in writing, directing, editing, and even acting.

There has always been one constant being in my ever changing life. Film. Something that has infected my life with so many varying emotions, that I have no choice but to commend its value. Spielberg, Scorsese, Hitchcock, Godard, Allen,… these men and many more have inspired my life as it exists today. After attending and graduating film school, I started a family and currently shoot super 8mm films for weddings. I allow cinema to play a pivotal role in both of these areas, and I’m sure if you are a Filmdog(like Mr. Edens, Mr. Will, and myself) the chances are you do as well.
A taste of the Favorites
Vertigo, Blade Runner, Manhattan, Gattaca, Taxi Driver, The Mosquito Coast, Midnight Cowboy, At Close Range, Blow Out, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Band of Outsiders, The Third Man, Saving Private Ryan, Bicycle Thieves, Dead Man, On the Waterfront, Days of Heaven, Casablanca, Miller’s Crossing, Heat, and hundreds more…

It’s difficult to explain how I feel about movies. I liken it to when someone says, “I love music” on their Facebook profile. Music is a part of my everyday life, a part of my being, my chemical makeup- so it would never occur to me to make the statement, “I love music”. The same goes for movies. I want to make them, write them, talk about them, and especially be IN them. They’re always around me, always in my life, always making me happy and sad and angry and excited and giving me the occasional fabulous nerdgasm. Movies are, to use the parlance of our times, the shit.
Some of my favorite movie characters:
Simon Gruber, “Die Hard With a Vengeance.” Jack Sparrow, “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Miranda Priestly, “The Devil Wears Prada.” Cosmo Brown, “Singin’ In The Rain.” Brian Johnson, “The Breakfast Club.” Will Shakespeare, “Shakespeare in Love.”

I am pumped to be a part of The Pack for sure.
I’m not obsessed with movies though like the rest of them….I will however judge you as a person based on the movies or tv shows you love or hate, but that’s normal..right? Upon further acquaintance-ification (word?) of you, I will certainly find a movie character that you remind me of and expect you to know all of my Office Space and Dumb and Dumber references. But hey, who doesn’t do that?
When it comes down to it, I love movies and always have. I have also always been rather opinionated, so I think my work with the Filmdogs will fit quite nicely.
A few of my film faves:
Office Space, Braveheart, Children of Men, Punch Drunk Love, Little Miss Sunshine, Saving Private Ryan, Goodfellas, About a Boy, In America, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, the Goonies, 28 Days Later, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Minority Report, Schindler’s List, Blood Diamond, Garden State, Million Dollar Baby, Requiem for a Dream, Back to the Future, A Beautiful Mind..plus about a hundred more.
A few of my tv faves:
the Shield, Arrested Development, the Office, Community, Parks and Rec, Curb your Enthusiasm, Flight of the Conchords, 30 Rock, Lost, The Ultimate Fighter
